METALWORKS INSTITUTE
MUSIC PERFORMANCE AND TECHNOLOGY
PRO TOOLS
Needs Analysis
Pro Tools by AVID is the industry standard software platform in the music industry and broadcast and is the most widely used Digital Audio Workstation in professional settings.

At Metalworks, Pro Tools is considered meta-skill. The majority of the studio-related courses work used Pro Tools, so having a high proficiency in this course is central to students succeeding in the majority of other courses.

This course is aimed at singer songwriters and musicians in the music performance program.

The expectations for these students was relaxed from a technical perspective.

They should be able to function competently in Pro Tools to facilitate other course work at the school

Be able to record and edit their instrument without relying on producers or engineers for basic tasks they may need as industry freelancers.

Skills and material needed to be in-sync with studio classes running at the same time, so necessary recording and editing skills are in place, just in time.
