METALWORKS INSTITUTE
AUDIO PRODUCTION AND ENGINEERING PROGRAM
PRO TOOLS
Needs Analysis
Pro Tools by AVID is the industry standard software platform in the music industry and broadcast and is the most widely used Digital Audio Workstation in professional settings.

At Metalworks, Pro Tools is considered meta-skill. The majority of the studio-related courses work used Pro Tools, so having a high proficiency in this course is central to students succeeding in the majority of other courses.

The school decided to use AVID's level 1 certification for this exam as an objective benchmark for students to shoot for. Normally this type of certification would be for experienced professionals only.

Qualified students would be invited to write the exam free of charge (normally a $1500 value and separate certfication class would have to be passed.)

Metalworks is known for generating graduates that have practical mastery of the software and can execute complex editing commands with ease and agility.
Practical, experiential learning methods were essential.
